Writing as a skill is something I have developed a sincere passion for ever since I was a kid, but as a kid, I did not know what password or passion is talk more of knowing that I had passion for writing. All I knew was that hardly would a day pass that I don't write and writing was and still is one of my major source of happiness.
As a writer who did not know that I was a writer, though not certified, I kept writing for as long as I kept developing new ideas and for as long as my tender fingers could pen things down. As a young writer, who dedicated more time to writing than any other activity, I was criticized by my siblings, a few friends and most especially my mum, to the extent that I was tagged "a writing addict."
All that never bothered me because for the first time, my small but mighty mind kept telling me that I was threading the right path and for that I was not discouraged by any negativity. At the age of 18, I did not only discover that I was passionate about writing, but I also discovered after undergoing series of self discovery trainings that I was good at writing.
My zeal, consistency and determination as a writer grew stronger when along with my passion for writing, I discovered WHY I chose writing out of all careers. I attended several online writing trainings, read books on writing, participated in a few writing challenges,not to emerge as the winner, bitjust for my own personal growth and I connected with like minds. But despite all this, I still felt I was not qualified to call myself a writer and my career would not be complete until I have acquired a certificate.
As a developing writer, one of the things I learnt is that acquiring a writing certificate is not a priority but it's necessary for professionalism and for that I was determined to get one. I prayed to God for guidance and hoped that he will make me stumble on a legit writing organisation that offers not only certificate to young writers but also membership and writing opportunities.
So, last month, while scrolling through my social media pages, I came across an online writing conference called "Proficient Writers and Authors association (PWAC)." Fortunately for me, when I stumbled on their facebook page, the first thing I saw was that they were Organizing a FIVE DAYS ONLINE WRITING CONFERENCE WITH CERTIFICATE FOR JUST #1,000.
To be frank, at that moment when I stumbled on their post, I was sincerely ready to register for any legit online writing conference or program, as long as it was between 1k to 5k, but I was broke than never before. I was broke not because I did not have savings,but because my account had issues and the only bank in which I had money, I used the money to pay for an online writing course that I regretted paying for. Yh, I regretted it but later I realized it's part of the disappointments I was destined to face as an upcoming certified writer, and for that I was almost fed up and my mum was the last person I should think of asking.
Still, I did not give up and I was not ready to borrow a dime from anyone. All I did was save up 80% of my feeding and school allowance for that week by not eating until I got home from school. I did that for a whole week and Alhamdullilah my 1k was complete. Though it was not easy especially because activities as a university student can be draining, but it was worth it.
I registered for the 5 DAYS ONLINE WRITING CONFERENCE and to be honest I have never been so happy that I took out of my own pocket to pay for an online training like I was at the end of the conference. I learnt things I have not been privileged to learn ever since I became a writer few years ago. I was ecstatic because I did not regret taking that big step and I was sure that it would be a stepping stone to my career as a writer.
On the 25th of May, 2023, I received my first certificate of training as a writer. Hurray, I'm now a certified writer!
Today, I am NOT a perfect BUT a certified writer who is passionate about what I do and is determined to spread positivity through my passion for writing.

Anything is impossible as long as you believe in it and your mind is the only limitation to how far you can go in life. So, go out there and be the best you can be NOT TO IMPRESS THE WORLD, BUT FOR YOUR OWN PERSONAL GROWTH.
