There's no excuse for being irreverent, neither is there an excuse for passing by someone, especially an elder, without greeting them. 

But sometimes not greeting or respecting someone doesn't make us disrespectful, it simply means that such a person neither deserves our respect nor our greeting.

So, if you want to COMMAND respect from people, then EARN it by SELLING your VALUE to them.
